Description
Estimation is half art, half science, and half magic. (See what I did there?) However it adds up, it’s a trap for the unwary that can make or break projects, careers, even entire businesses. The Standish CHAOS report has consistently shown over the years that barely a third of projects are considered successful, and “success” is often redefined only after the project ends. In other words, apparently estimation is almost impossible. But it’s not!
The thing is, just like going to the gym, you can’t just estimate once and expect perfection. So, in our session, we’ll look not only at estimation techniques, but also at the traps and how to avoid them, and the underlying theories, factors, and praxis of high value estimation. You’ll learn proven techniques that make estimation orders of magnitude more useful than just a numbers game. You’ll come away knowing how estimation can develop your strength, flexibility, and fitness as super-competent project manager.Event Date | 06-26-2021 8:30 am |

Description:
In almost every field, from engineering to sales, the transition from practitioner to leader poses a particular challenge: Refocusing individual identity to encompass the success of a team rather than relying purely upon technical prowess. No matter how many examples we see of unparalleled experts in their field whose teams perpetually flounder, when the time comes for our own transitions, learning to base our pride around an entirely new set of metrics remains a universal challenge. But there is good news! With a slight shift in perspective, the exact same skills that led to technical prowess can be used to build and support world-class teams.
