Preserving Agility at Scale through Value-Based Project Management
Today, the manager's role is replaced by the VUCA leader's. The role of an effective leader in the VUCA world has changed dramatically. We expect leaders to move from telling to motivating and inspiring others, aligning ‘teams of teams'’ goals to the overall strategic direction without micromanaging while giving each individual a sense of belonging to a shared set of values and purpose.
Using an integral approach, we will explore multiple perspectives on an organization's people, practices, structures, cultures, and worldviews. This enables us to understand better where they are by applying Ken Wilber’s Spiral Dynamics theory.
Participants will then be led through a series of exercises individually and in small groups to become more aware of our values and how to identify them in the actions of others. We will end by coalescing our learnings into tools we, project and product managers, can use to reduce scaling friction through value-based decision-making.

How Analytics and PM interact
Before there was the discipline of Business Analytics, project management professionals tracked their progress with multiple measurement tools and methodologies. With the advent of Business Analytics there arose a new kind of project involved in data mining, building models and deriving insights that could be applied to the business with the end-result of generating measurable outcomes. CRISP-DM was added to the list of methodologies. Analytics was now both a part of the project management process, and a project in its own right. This presentation will walk through how the two co-exist.

Shields Up: Cybersecurity Project Management
We expect more automation, integration, and online activity in the foreseeable future resulting in more cybersecurity risks and issues. Therefore, organizations and individuals are spending more resources on cybersecurity projects to implement, maintain and optimize the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of their digital services and data. The demand for cybersecurity projects and expertise is growing; it is a great time to learn about cybersecurity project management.
Cybersecurity is complex and aligning to a multitude of international standards can be problematic. In Dr. Greg Skulmoski’s presentation, attendees will be introduced to a project management approach that combines standards and is tailored to cybersecurity projects detailed in his book Shields Up: Cybersecurity Project Management. The Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ITIL Service Management, ISO Risk Management, ISO Quality Management, and ISO Information Security Standards are aligned into a project delivery approach applicable to most cybersecurity projects, most of the time.

Managing cyber security projects with ease
The presentation begins with an introduction to the role of a project manager in an information security organization and highlights the significance of confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) as the foundational principles of information security. It further explores the importance of IAAA - Identification, Authentication, Authorization, and Accountability - in securing information systems. The speaker's extensive experience in the industry is showcased through a detailed exploration of the expectations from a successful project manager. Technical knowledge, leadership, and communication skills are identified as critical attributes necessary for overseeing security-related projects. PM Insight - Virtual Meeting:
Your User Stories Are Too Big!
Product owners often struggle to translate their big ideas into small user stories that the team can deliver in a sprint. When a user story is too big, it is harder to understand, estimate, and implement successfully. Some teams break the ‘business story’ into ‘technical stories’ but this doesn’t solve the problem because most or all of the technical stories need to be completed before there is anything meaningful for the stakeholders.
This experiential session will give you hands-on experience with 4 simple, yet powerful techniques to break big stories into smaller stories that are meaningful to stakeholders and deliver business value. Participants write and split stories in small groups throughout this session. In his years of agile coaching, Chris has never found a story that could not be split using at least one of these techniques.
