The presentation begins with an introduction to the role of a project manager in an information security organization and highlights the significance of confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) as the foundational principles of information security. It further explores the importance of IAAA - Identification, Authentication, Authorization, and Accountability - in securing information systems. The speaker's extensive experience in the industry is showcased through a detailed exploration of the expectations from a successful project manager. Technical knowledge, leadership, and communication skills are identified as critical attributes necessary for overseeing security-related projects. The presentation delves into project planning and execution, risk management, compliance, vendor and stakeholder management, budgeting, and resource allocation, as well as incident response and business continuity. A significant portion of the presentation is dedicated to the salient features of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0. Attendees gain insights into the risk-based approach, improved supply chain risk management, integration of privacy and data protection, self-assessment methodology, emphasis on authentication and identity management, and enhanced metrics and measurement provided by CSF 2.0.
In summary, this presentation serves as a comprehensive guide for PMP certified project managers, equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to excel in managing security-related projects within information security organizations. By combining technical acumen, leadership qualities, and adherence to industry frameworks such as CSF 2.0, project managers can effectively protect organizational assets and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems. |

Description:
Join us to help restore habitat in Coyote Valley! On Saturday, July 29th, we will be pulling stinkwort, an invasive weed from the disturbed areas along the Spreckels wetland restoration area. This Christmas tree shaped weed is named for its pungent pine-sol smell-- gloves will be provided and long sleeves and pants are encouraged! Since the late 80’s, stinkwort has taken over disturbed habitats in Santa Clara County, after fires and human activity. It not only replaces the native vegetation with thick stands of small stinky shrubs, but it also can pose danger to grazers who may accidentally eat it. Volunteer weeding efforts have made significant progress in controlling this invasive. The work itself will involve bending, kneeling and walking in uneven but flat terrain; it will involve using gloved hands and tools for pulling as well as bagging weeds in large contractor bags to be placed in our dump trailer at the end of the work day. It's a team effort with lots of rewarding moments on the land! |
