Workshop Description:
Program Management is based upon the premise of managing multiple projects and/or teams in a way which brings benefits that could not have been achieved without the coordination. There are many ways to provide that coordination. Scrum@Scale provides the best framework for coordination due to its minimal overhead.
Where other methods involve tons of rules and processes which add more work, cost, and time to a program, Scrum@Scale boasts a “minimum viable bureaucracy” that requires little extra meetings and ceremonies but provides the techniques for maximizing value via increased alignment.
Scrum@Scale naturally extends the core Scrum framework to deliver hyper-productive results across industries and disciplines, including software, hardware, services, operations, and R&D
Learning Outcomes:
- Explain why organizations struggle to be agile and identify the three Mega Issues organizations face when trying to scale.
- Explain that Scrum@Scale is a lightweight framework that can be applied in any industry and domain.
- Discuss why there is not a prescription to scaling agility within an organization but rather principles and patterns that work across functions, domains, and industries.
- Explain the importance of systems-thinking to optimize the whole organization or value stream.
- Relate hands-on experience with iterative development involving multiple teams to their own working context.
Workshop Instructor: Brian Levy
Brian is a Strategy Management Consultant, Performance Management
Trainer, and Executive Coach with over 30 years of experience in the
technology sector. He has been a part of the development of many
software applications including CyberVision, Network Threat Defender,
and AgileAI. He specializes in the use of AI in management specifically
using AI for digital transformation an enabling leadership to flatten the
hierarchical structure used to guide the organization. Despite residing in Silicon Valley, Brian is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and enjoys utilizing his extensive international experience to aid the next generation entering the technology space.
Brian Levy is the President of BridgePort Digital, an organizational optimization firm specializing in bridging the gap between strategic goals and actual performance outcomes. While others in the industry have avoided metrics, Brian has been able to consistently improve productivity by over 30% within 3 to 6 months of operation. He has accomplished this feat by aligning an organization’s performance management processes to the appropriate strategic approach and by coaching executives through his pioneering techniques in Agile Strategy Management. As an avid fan of continuous improvement, Brian often takes the time to engage in executive coaching personally in order to learn new skills to transfer to his employees. However, his real joy is in putting his Registered Scrum@Scale Trainer status to use in the classroom and training others in the techniques which lead to organizational optimization. That joy is most often utilized via training underrepresented minorities in careers related to software development and using his 10-year-old daughter to explain Management by Acceptance concepts.
