Description:

This workshop will dive deep into the methodology of Design Thinking.  Participants will learn a little bit about where Design Thinking came from and how it differs from the traditional engineering or scientific method.  We will learn how Design Thinking creates more successful products and services by forcing them to become more “human centric.”

Once we develop that foundation of knowledge, we will start to explore how Design Thinking can be applied not in products but in professions such as project management.  Participants will solve a mock problem in their own space using an abbreviated Design Thinking method (the full application can take days).

Finally, we will learn some tips as to how we can develop a Design Thinking mindset, so the power of the methodology can stay with us in our daily lives.

 Takeaways:

  • Define Design Thinking
  • Describe some examples of Design Thinking and some history
  • Learn and practice the steps in the Design Thinking process in a familiar context
  • Solve a mock problem with the method
  • Gain some skills for applying Design Thinking in our everyone’s lives
