PM Insights Foster City Virtual Meeting: Situational Awareness for Project Management: Sense-making in crazy times!
PM Insights Foster City -
Situational Awareness for Project Management:
Sense-making in crazy times!
In an ideal world, your project plans would come in on target every time. Methodologies and frameworks come and go, and still the numbers barely improve. What could make a difference? Could it be that we need a way to better understand the mix of problems we face in each project, and the mix of solution, that may all be changing as the world changes around us? Some way we can be better equipped to wrestle with our volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world, even when our clients and employers desperately want certainty.
A reliable sense-making framework would allow us to have much improved situational awareness, both of the context of our problems and their solutions, and that in turn would allow us to design projects using the relevant blend of approaches, rather than relying on whatever worked last time! This session will introduce you to exactly that framework, simple to understand and apply, applicable in all contexts, and proven across domains from industry to healthcare to government and beyond. You have a mix of theory and practice, to leave you with tools you can apply back at work tomorrow.
- A reliable framework for situational assessment, sense-making, and decision support.
- Basis techniques in designing situationally appropriate responses where existing responses may be inadequate.
- Improved ability to choose frameworks appropriate to the context (e.g. where to use Agile, Six Sigma, Lean, DevOps, Waterfall etc.)
- Access to resources for further interest in sense-making, situational assessment, and decision support.
- A quick reference hand-out and a running copy of the deck.
