Election Process

The election activities of the Board of Directors for the upcoming year is very similar to those used in previous years, and by other not-for-profit organizations. In general, the activities consist of the following:
  1. Call for Nominations
  2. Candidates complete self-nomination form
  3. Nomination Committee reviews the nominations and finalize the slate of nominees
  4. Conduct on-line election
  5. Announcement of election results via email and website

Call for Nominations

The election activties start with the Chapter's VP Strategy's announcement of self-nominations being accepted from current volunteers interested in serving on the Board of Directors. General qualifications for candidates are current PMI Silicon Valley volunteer status and PMP preferred. Financial or leadership experience in a not-for-profit organization would be a plus.

The Chapter Values and Principles are used for guiding the decisions made by the Board on the wide variety of policy decisions.

All candidates must follow the Electioneering Policy, as noted in the Chapter Bylaws and defined by PMI.org.

The Nomination form is your opportunity as a nominee to provide a brief description of your qualifications and goals for the board position of interest (120 words maximum).

Nomination Committee reviews the nominations and finalize the slate of nominees

The Nomination Committee for 2022, is led by the VP Finance and consists of past Board members and senior chapter leaders. A temporary and independent body, the responsibility of this committee is ensure the independent and impartial execution of the chapter vote. They evaluate the candidates for interest and eligibility, and propose a slate of nominees to the members for voting.

Conduct on-line election

Once the nominees are selected by the Nomination Committee, the candidates provides a photo and one paragraph self-description (120 words maximum). This information is used to create the election ballot and included in announcements about the election.

Announcement of election results via email and website

Approximately two weeks later after the elections are opened, the results are tabulated. Candidates are informed of the results by the Nomination Committee. An email and web page is also created as part of the announcements.
