Maintaining Your Certification

After all the hard work and pride in earning your certification(s), you should continue to engage actively in various PM activities and education in order to keep up with your professional knowledge and status. There is a 60-PDU requirement by PMI in order to renew your certificate(s).

Reporting PDUs & Status Dashboard

  • Visit the Report PDUs page at PMI.org to report PDUs and review your PDU standing. (PMI.org login required)
  • Select the proper category of activities that earned you the PDUs, one entry at a time. If your event/ activity had provided you with a claim code, select I have a claim code link and enter the code.
  • If you had attended a PMISV event but don't have the claim code, select the Course or Training option and enter C174 at the Provider name or ID field.Then start typing the title of event in the Course Name or ID field. Fill in the rest of fields to complete your submission.
  • Repeat the process if you have other PDU activities to report.

PDU CLAIM CODE
  • For PMISV Symposium and large scale events that our Chapter provides a claim code, select the PDU Claim Code category box.
  • In the Claim Code category box, select I have a claim code link
  • Enter your claim code received from the event, and select Apply
  • The found code should refresh your browser page to a pre-populated form, filled with information
  • Verify the pre-populated info and complete missing required fields
  • Select Submit
INFORMAL LEARNING
  • For all PMISV Breakfasts Meetings and Women in PM Forum Meetings, select the Informal Learning category box
  • For Organization/Group field, enter “PMI Silicon Valley Chapter”
  • For Course field, enter the full meeting name (example: "PM Breakfast Meeting - Dublin")
  • Complete all the required fields on the form
  • For PDUs, enter either 1 PDU (60 mins) or 1.5 PDU (90 mins), etc. based on your time spent at the event. The Talent Triangle elements should reflect the actual experience that you had in the meeting. Give your best judgement.
  • Select Submit
ORGANIZATION MEETINGS
  • For all PMISV PM Insights Meetings, select the Organization Meetings category box
  • For Organization/Group field, enter “C174”. PMI Silicon Valley Chapter should show up for selection
  • For Title field, enter the full title or keyword to trigger a search. Select the correct match. (note: search is done across all global PMI events database. Similar event names may occur)
  • Complete all the required fields on the form
  • For PDUs, enter 2 PDUs max. based on your time spent at the event. The Talent Triangle elements should reflect the actual experience that you had in the meeting. Give your best judgement.
  • Select Summit
COURSE OR TRAINING
  • For course or training (CD Workshops and Annual Symposium; greater than 2 PDUs), select the Course or Training category box
  • For Organization/Group field, enter “C174”. PMI Silicon Valley Chapter should show up for selection
  • For Course field, enter the full course name or keyword to trigger a search. Select the correct match. (note: search is done across all global PMI events database. Similar event names may occur)
  • Complete all the required fields on the form
  • For PDUs, use the PDU claim information provided with the event information. PDUs claimed should align with the event information
  • Select Summit
VOLUNTEER
  • Active volunteer leaders and Board members may claim PDUs for their services. Select the Volunteer category box
  • For Organization/Group field, enter “PMI Silicon Valley Chapter”
  • For Volunteer Course field, enter your volunteer role at the PMISV chapter
  • Complete all the required fields on the form
  • For PDUs, the amount of PDUs should reflect the volunteering effort you contributed. Note: There is a 25 PDUs max limit for each certificate renewal cycle, based on certificate types. Visit the latest edition of CCRS Handbook for more information
  • Select Submit
NON-QUALIFYING ACTIVITIES

Participation at the following activities cannot claim PDUs:



  • New Member Orientation
  • Job Search Breakfast
  • Community Outreach
  • Certification Information
  • Chapter celebration or social-only events
