Submissions Deadline Extended to August 5, 2018

  

The PMI Silicon Valley Chapter is pleased to announce its 2018 Annual Symposium for October 22-23 in the heart of Silicon Valley in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Are you an experienced leader with enterprise knowledge balancing tried-and-true approaches and adapting to change? What leadership strategies have you used to increase the capability for your organization to respond to changes in your industry?  Would you like to share your knowledge with like-minded professionals and participate in an event where you will learn from others who have led successful projects and faced similar challenges?

We are now inviting submissions from speakers who wish to participate in this year's exciting event. We would love to have you as a session speaker at the upcoming 2018 PMI Silicon Valley Annual Symposium, held at Santa Clara Conventions Center. This year's theme is: Strategic Leadership for Enterprise Agility.

INCLUDE: Presenter’s Name, Bio (100 words max), Presentation Description/Outline (1000 words or less), Employer or Organization, Email Address and Phone Number. Learning Objectives for the attendees (Three to five bullet points). Please include a url of a video of talk (only one video, send your best) that you've done if you have one (good to have).

 

DELIVERY FORMAT: 55 minute presentations, with 40-45 min to deliver content and 10-15 min for Q&A with audience.

 

Submission Date:  All proposals will be reviewed by a committee and the selected presenters will be notified by August 19, 2018 and final presentations are due on September 8, 2018

Note:  Presenters will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements, if any.

 

Content

Proposed topics must be aligned with the symposium theme of "Strategic Leadership for Enterprise Agility" and should be compelling to the attendees. Presentations should be practical and applicable to individuals and organizations. Interpretation of this theme is welcome, and presenters from any industry, discipline, or project environment are encouraged. Possible topic categories include:

  • Skills and techniques – What leadership ideas have you (or your colleagues) applied running a successful organization? What tips and practical advice do you have in areas such as: Dealing with global or distributed contributors, Securing reliable support from stakeholders, customers and sponsors; Defusing conflicts; Ability to change the culture, structure, process and leadership perspectives; Achieving collaborative results across the entire organization / company; Communicating effectively, and other aspects of effective program leadership with impact at the enterprise level.
  • Case studies – Have you lived through situations where project leadership has made a measurable difference to an organization (either for better or for worse)? How has your organization struggled to move from habits and practices that are counterproductive to the organization’s strategy? What was learned from the experiences?
  • Methodology – What leadership and methods have you seen leading change in ambiguous and complex situations in an organization? What methods was used to survive and thrive when confronted with unexpected circumstances and crises? How did your enterprise level agile leaders dedicate themselves to execute their visions and finish the project in hand before turning to new projects? What concepts do you find work best in achieving enterprise agility?
  • Success Stories or valuable lesson learned – How have you seen strategic leadership contribute to balance agility and consistency for the results that have lasting value? What “war stories” can you share to help others achieve better outcomes?

Preference will be given to presentations that:

  • Reflect leadership best practices in program and project management
  • Illustrate effective, evolving project / program / portfolio management techniques or developments
  • Provide practical value for our audience comprised largely of seasoned project leaders of the Silicon Valley industries here in the San Francisco Bay Area
  • Have not previously been delivered at other conferences.

 

Speaker Credentials

Speaker selection will also be based on proven presentation skills and good project management credentials, reputation, and credibility.

Preference will be given to speakers with extensive enterprise agility leadership experience. Case studies and concrete examples are very desirable.

 

Speaker Participant Benefits

Accepted presenters will receive one complimentary symposium registration, including access to all conference presentations and keynotes, refreshments and meals provided during the conference, and entry into all other scheduled conference activities.  (Any additional presenters may either register and participate in the full symposium, or, at no cost, plan to attend only the portion of the symposium around their scheduled presentation.)

Note:  Presenters will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements, if any.

All presentations will be made available in PDF format to all attendees, with summary abstracts for each presentation printed in the symposium program.

Individuals (not organizations) can be provided exhibit space to display their educational material (books or other materials) upon request.
