About the Class:

Please take a minute to self-evaluate your knowledge of MSFT Project

The self-evaluation form is here: MS_Project_Self_Evaluation.pdf

Download and Install Software:

If you have MS Project already installed on your computer, please skip this section

Please note MS Project does not natively run on a Mac or Chromebook.

It requires the Windows OS (preferably Windows 10) to run.

If using a Mac or Chromebook, you need to create a virtual Windows machine, using software similar to VMware Fusion, Oracle VirtualBox, etc.

The easiest and perhaps cheapest way to install MS Project (desktop) is to buy a second-hand copy.

You can find it on eBay, AMZN and many discount software vendors for about $35.00.

Please make sure that it is compatible with your installed Office (Word, Excel, PPT) and the installed OS (32 bit or 64 bit).

Note that Project 2016 will not run on Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Microsoft will force you to upgrade to Windows 10, and de-install all Office 2013 software that you may have already installed.

This could be disastrous if you are using your work PC.

Alternatively, you can download a 30 day trial version of MS Project from http://www.mpug.com/resources/microsoft-project-free-trials/

Another way is to visit Buy Microsoft Project Plan 3 - Microsoft 365 and try and download a copy

If you prefer an online (SaaS) version of MS Project, you need to be careful about a few things:

Project Online Essentials (Project Plan 1) is a time-sheet submission software and does not allow you to schedule and hence unsuitable for this class.

Project Plan 3 ($30.00/user/month) is the correct tool.

Project Plan 5 is a portfolio management tool, and we will not cover the features of this tool

Additionally, you will need access to MS Excel to do certain exercises

Workshop Welcome Letter (Class pdfs, exercises, examples and templates) along with Zoom meeting details will be shared  with attendees 48 hours before the class.
