Commitment-Based Project Management (CBPM) – Getting projects done in an Agile way!
Commitment-Based Project Management (CBPM) – Getting projects done in an Agile way!
While Agile (Scrum, XP) has been very successful in software development, what do you do when you are either not doing a software project or must follow a waterfall methodology? How can you implement Agile in this situation?
Commitment-Based Project Management (CBPM) is an Agile methodology that is domain agnostic. What does this mean? It means that regardless of the domain (hardware, construction, medical devices, defense projects, even software!) or the product/service development approach you are using, you can implement it and be Agile.
Planning and execution are two key parts of any project and so are they for CBPM. Through a “Map Day” process first created at Intel Corporation, the team comes up with a plan they can commit to. Execution is led and monitored through regular meetings and follow-up actions.
Come learn how to be Agile in a non-Agile world!
Takeaways:
Basic understanding of the concepts behind the CBPM approach including:
- Map days
- Monitoring and tracking
- Knowledge of where to get more information.
- Excel spreadsheet to manage the projects.
