Many teams and organizations wonder whether they need to do Risk Management for agile projects, and how. The misconception that an agile project does not require planning, leads naturally to the conclusion that an agile project does not require risk management. The fact is that every project needs some planning and has risks. That includes agile projects. In this presentation, we will review some guidelines and techniques for managing risk in Scrum projects. We will see how the Scrum framework is designed with risk “built-in”. We will also cover some techniques that help the team to proactively manage risk.

Moshe Gotesman

Moshe Gotesman, PhD, CSM, CSP, SAFe, LeSS, PMP, Scrum@Scale, Kanban, ITIL is an experienced consultant, trainer and coach on project and program management, specializing in Agile, Scrum and related topics. He has worked in engineering management, process development and as a Director of project management. Among others, Moshe worked on software development, IT hardware, networking and security projects for many Fortune 500 organizations such as Visa Inc, Walmart, Sun Microsystems, Nokia and Google. Moshe specializes in Software Development Life Cycles (SDLCs), including Agile, Scrum, Kanban, as well as Waterfall. Moshe is also a respected educator. He is an instructor at UC Berkeley Extension and UC Santa Cruz Extension), in the areas of Project Management, including both Waterfall and Agile. Moshe currently works as an Agile Coach and Agile Transformation Specialist at Fisher Investments.
