Fellow Chapter Members,

Warm welcome to the new volunteer leaders and greetings to all PMISV Chapter members. Month of June, we had the Q2 Active Chapter Leaders forum where we had the pleasure of listening to Mr. Justin Kappers (Senior  Director from NetApp) speak on Project Leadership. We are working closely with PMI Region 7 leadership to bring more value to our members for both the PMI and Chapter membership.

In the Month of June, we have announced the PMISV Annual Symposium Theme ‘Strategic Leadership for Enterprise Agility’ and sent out communication ‘call for papers / presenters’. We have identified the opening key note speaker and are working on getting other key note speakers. Stayed tuned to read more updates on the Symposium in the July Newsletter.

Save the date for the Symposium: October 22 and 23, 2018.

The PMISV Board of Directors appointed Terri Mui to continue as VP Strategy for one more year from July 2018 thru June 2019.

We are constantly looking for fresh graduates / students join the Chapter Next Gen Leadership program. If you have ideas or would like to part of the Next Gen Leadership Program please contact me at president@pmisv.org

Please encourage veterans and active-duty personnel in your network to take advantage of the opportunity to register for the Chapter evening events at no cost. To make this more effective, we are looking for a Veteran to lead this opportunity. Please drop an email to vp_operations@pmisv.org

As part of sharing the contribution board member make to the Chapter with their dedicated team of volunteer leaders, this month we have Mr. Skip La Fetra VP Administration detail out how his team is working hard to bring value to your Chapter membership.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The VP of Administration manages activities which are mostly behind-the-scenes but important to keeping our organization running smoothly. We are partitioned into three sections:

Administration: We manage relationships with PMI and other chapters, provide the agenda and minutes of our Board meetings (you will find the minutes posted on our website). We also hold Chapter records (except financial records) and archives.

Volunteer Onboarding: New volunteers hear from our team first, although they may not realize it. We take in potential new volunteers (we have a form on our website that Chapter members can use to apply as a volunteer) and provide the onboarding experience and maintain the list of open volunteer positions.

Core IT and Web site infrastructure: If we do our job here well, you'll rarely see us. While Operations updates the website pages and look, the Administration team keeps the whole thing humming. We respond to crashes and bugs, keep the internal structure consistent, and add new functionality as needed.

We have done a lot so far in 2018, especially in the Core IT domain. We have migrated the web server infrastructure to a new version and replaced old versions of the calendar and email modules with spiffy modern ones. We have also migrated the internal mail system (used by anyone with a "@pmisv.org" email address) to an entirely different and much more modern solution.

For the rest of the year, we have initiatives to: * improve our new-volunteer support with both logistics and information improvements, and to * add more member resources to our website (especially processes and "how-to" information useful to our volunteers).

We are always looking for a few good volunteers to help in these initiatives. Most of the team has been around for several years and are excellent mentors to new members who would like to add new skills or polish old ones. If this is an area that you’d like to be involved or have some ideas, please contact me at vp_administration@pmisv.org!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We continue to see improved attendance at our Chapter events in 2018. Thank You for all the volunteers who are constantly striving hard to put up events that provide value to our members and Project Management community in the Bay Area.

I encourage all Chapter Members who wish to be a Chapter Leader to apply to enroll in the Leadership program and take advantage of the resources. If you are interested, please send an email to vp_strategy@pmisv.org

I would also like to take this opportunity to request you to join us at our Chapter Events and encourage your Project Management friends to join the Chapter and volunteer.

We are constantly looking for new volunteer leaders and encourage you to submit your application under the “Get Involved” tab on our website’s home page, once you’ve logged in.

I hope to see you at a Chapter event soon! Volunteer with Passion. Happy Volunteering!

Sincerely,

Bhanu M Viswanadha PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM
